We Are French..Why Do You Think We Have This Outragious Riot?
As we speak a million French people are fighting in the streets. Now that in and of itself I find entertaining. After all, the French have not exactly been known for fighting. Now they seem to be doing a very good job of it but only amongst themselves. Couldn't these cheese-eating-rifle-droppers have thought about this...I don't know..About 65 years ago?
Apparently invading bands of Nazi's aren't enough to get them armed and into the streets. What is? Jobs. Do I mean the possibility that jobs might be eliminated and unemployment might go up? Nope, the youth of France are rioting because they will now be able to get more jobs. Apparently that's bad when you're dealing with a socialist government.
The deal is this. France was painfully aware that their youth made horrible employees and were getting fired before they had a chance to suck off the corporate teet. So the government installed a law several years ago that told any business that if they hired anyone under the age of 26 they couldn't fire them. Doesn't matter the reason, they can't be fired. Sounds like a pure Democratic plan doesn't it?
The unintended result of that well-meaning, well-thought out law was that businesses simply stopped hiring anyone under the age of 26. They weren't interested in taking the risk of hiring an incompetent who had immediate "tenure." As a result, youth unemployment skyrocketed.
So the government decided to rescind that law, thereby allowing more job opportunities for the youth. Their reaction? Riot.
So there you have it. The youth of France finally standing up to oppressive forces. Like work.
There...now leave before I riot a second time.
